Dr. Chad A. Kim Sing is an academic Emergency Physician at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital (UBCH). He is an executive medical leader and currently serves as interim Vice President of Medicine and Medical Affairs at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Authority. VCH serves more than 1.25M people and operates approximately 20 hospitals, acute care facilities, and urgent and primary care centers with about 25,000 staff and 3,500 medical staff.

Dr. Kim Sing has served as the Department Head and Medical Director of the Emergency Departments of VGH and UBCH which see over 125,000 visits a year. VGH is a tertiary/quaternary academic level 1 trauma center and the provincial referral center for programs including transplant, spine, burns, and stroke.

He has held numerous medical leadership roles including co-leading the VCH COVID-19 pandemic emergency operations center response, serving on the British Columbia Provincial Medical Services Executive Council with the Ministry of Health, and as the VCH lead for the recent provincial Physician Master Agreement (PMA) negotiations. Chad also serves on the Health Authority Medical Advisory Committee (HAMAC) and supports other regional initiatives including the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Wellness programs at VCH.

He was the inaugural fellow in 2017 and now Co-Director of the UBC DEM-Brigham Health-Harvard physician leadership fellowship and executive lead of the well received innovative VCH Medical Practitioner Occupational Safety and Health (mPOSH) program which serves and supports the occupational, physical and psychological safety needs of medical staff. This past year he has increased his leadership acumen as an International Coaching Federation (ICF) trained organizational and executive coach.

Chad is energized by medical leadership development, building up others to show up as their best selves, and in bringing vast stakeholders together to advance and improve patient and provider models of care with impactful experiences. A mantra he espouses is relentless decency and he is known for approaching challenges with calm, curiosity, and compassionate leadership.
